What should you eat before an adventure run?
How much water you should drink before an adventure run?
No matter how hard you trained for whichever event you're doing; tough mudder, warrior dash, Spartan race or rugged maniac what you eat the morning of can make or break your performance.
Mistakes not to make before an adventure run:
• Eat 30 minutes before (or sooner): Your body needs time to digest before you start moving. Make sure to eat 2.5 -- 3 hours before.
• Eat Fast Food: There's actually no good time to eat fast food...but especialy not before an adventure run! It will run through you and provide limited, if any sustained energy!
• Eat dairy: Dairy can lead to stomach and digestion issues plus cause you to need to use the bathroom during the adventure race
• Eat Beans: Beans are great to eat for fiber, protein, fats and low calories, BUT you don't want them to move your bowels during the race!
• Eat foods you've never had before: You don't know how your body will react so do not take a risk before a big event
• Not eat at all -- this is just plain stupid.
What you should eat before an adventure run
• ½ plate of a good source of carbohydrates: potatoes, sprout bread or quinoa
• ¼ plate of protein such as eggs
• ¼ plate fruit
Hydration is extremely important too!
Drink .35 x your bodyweight in oz's 2-3 hours before the event
What should you drink post event?
Immediately after the event hydrate with one serving of a sports drink and consume .55 x your bodyweight in oz's
