Please support combatflipflops.com they are truly helping and doing great positive actions of the world.

As Army Rangers with several Afghanistan tours behind them, Griff and Lee saw a country filled with hard-working, creative people who wanted jobs, not handouts.

Flip flops were just the start. They have taken a product that people in nearly every country on the planet wear, and made it a weapon for change. Right now, all their flip flops are made in Bogota, Colombia, providing jobs and investing in people who desperately need it. They have done that with all the products they sell.

The USA made Claymore Bag's flip the script, on traditional weapons of war. Instead of carrying bombs, these bags act as a carry-all for business tools like iPad's, laptops and more.

The Cover and Concealment sarongs are handmade in Afghanistan by local women. Each one takes three days to make.

The Peacemaker Bangle and Coinwrap are sent straight from artisans in Laos - and they're made from landmines dropped during the Vietnam war.

The Double Bottom Line: Every product Combat Flip Flops sells puts an Afghan girl into secondary school for a day. Each Peacemaker Bangle or coinwrap sold clears 3 square meters of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) from a region rocked by long-term war - saving lives and providing economic opportunity.

Here is the pop-up tent I have been wanting for a long time. Not only camping, but for so many other times like at soccer and Lacrosse games so the players have a place to change. Or there have been times when I need to change when out and have had to contort myself in my car. I can see so many uses for a tent like this.

2016 December trip to Puerta Vallarta. We stayed all-inclusive at Hyatt Ziva and had a great time. We joined in the Our Lady of Guadalupe festival, swam, ate a lot and really enjoyed the wonderful people of Mexico.

Fun day practicing the set up of the Hilleberg Tarra. Great double dome design that creates an incredible interior volume for the living space. Two vestibules for great gear storage. Really love this design.

Thumbnail photo credit to Nick Davis-Rattlesnake Ledge

The idea behind the Tarra was to create a kind of hybrid “tunnel dome” model, with a tunnel tent’s usable roominess and the static strength of a dome. The resulting boxy inner tent has near vertical walls, while the four pole structure boasts five crossing points for an exceptionally strong structure. Like its “big brothers,” the 4 person Saitaris and 3 person Saivo, the 2 person Tarra is simple to pitch, makes a fine base camp tent, and is fully capable of taking on the most challenging weather. So, as with the Saitaris and Saivo, the Tarra is often the choice of mountain climbers, and ski or paddle tourers. But its simplicity, strength and roominess also make it quite popular with travelers who take extended trips in remote, rugged locales, and with backcountry walkers, especially those who enjoy traveling in unruly conditions.

Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric and 10 mm poles make for an exceptionally strong and stable tent.
All season construction: outer tent walls extend to the ground and mesh areas are backed with adjustable fabric panels.
Dome construction with multiple pole crossing points provide outstanding snow-load handling capability.
Plenty of room for two occupants and their gear.
Linked but seperable inner and outer tent for simultaneous pitching.
Self-supporting dome design requires only the vestibules to be pegged, and the straightforward short sleeve and clip pole system make for quick, easy set up.
Dual entrances and vestibules ensure that one door can always be situated out of the wind and provide flexible entry/exit and storage options.
An optional footprint covers the entire area of the outer tent, including the vestibules. It connects directly to the tent, and can be left attached during pitching.
The outer and inner tents can be used separately. Pitching the inner tent alone requires optional pole holders.

I took the opportunity to do some practice set ups before a snow outing with the Hilleberg Allak 2, 4 season, 2 person, freestanding backpacking tent.

Inspired by the exceptionally strong Staika, the Allak was designed to be a completely free standing, all season dome tent for those prioritizing lighter weight over absolute strength. During its two year development, the Allak became the testers’ tent of choice anytime they were uncertain about what kind of terrain or conditions they might experience on a trip. Its exceptionally compact footprint and free standing design are ideal for tough pitching conditions, such as rocky ground and sand, and it is easily light enough for mobile journeys, where you move your camp every day. At the same time, its three pole dome structure is strong enough for base camp use in all but the worst conditions. Since its introduction, paddlers favor it for its ability to be pitched nearly anywhere, while backpackers choose it for its roomy stability and wonderfully light weight. Mountaineers appreciate both the Allak’s free standing design and its roominess, as well as its ability to deal with snow loading. And taller adventurers find its length a welcome comfort.

The four of us snowshoed up to Skyline Lake at Stevens Pass, WA for a night of fun and tent comparison. We brought up the Hilleberg Staika and the Allak, two very similar tents. We also brought the MSR Twin Brothers 6 man floorless tent for our group tent. Trigger, the black labrador, also tagged along.

We ran into some great people including another Hilleberg tent owner Henry who was set up in his Keron 3GT. There was another group of very fun people that went out on the lake and did the sparkler dance for our entertainment.

We used a pulk to bring up the extra equipment, mainly camera gear, that was great but the trail was steep and caused a lot of sweat. We had a ton of fun all day, then the talk at night in the group tent/bar was phenomenal.
